This 1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova Sport Coupe is a professionally built street machine that combines the lightweight appeal of Chevrolet’s beloved compact muscle car with modern performance upgrades and classic hot rod attitude. Extensively refurbished and modified during a comprehensive build completed around 2013, this Nova delivers impressive V8 power, upgraded handling, and a clean custom presentation that makes it equally at home on the show field or the open road.
Originally finished in Granada Gold, the body was completely disassembled during the restoration process and underwent extensive refurbishment before being refinished in a rich dark blue Cadillac metallic finish. Replacement door skins were installed as part of the bodywork, and the restoration also included new bumpers, trim, door handles, headlights, taillights, weatherstripping, vent windows, and replacement front and rear glass. The result is a Nova that presents with a crisp, clean appearance while maintaining the timeless lines that have made the 1966-1967 Chevy II one of the most sought-after compact muscle cars of its era.
Beneath the bodywork, the chassis has been substantially upgraded to provide handling and drivability that far exceed factory specifications. A Heidts independent front suspension system incorporates tubular control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, and adjustable coilovers, dramatically improving steering response and road manners. Moroso subframe connectors and polyurethane suspension bushings further enhance chassis rigidity and stability, creating a solid foundation for the car’s performance capabilities. Vented front disc brakes provide confident stopping power, while the aggressive stance is complemented by 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in staggered Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires.
Inside, the cabin was completely refreshed during the build and features a driver-focused layout designed to complement the car’s performance mission. Front bucket seats provide improved comfort and support, while front and rear seatbelts add practicality for modern driving. An Ididit tilt steering column and ATI Sidewinder shifter enhance both ergonomics and appearance, creating a cockpit that feels purposeful without sacrificing the classic character of the Nova platform.
The driver is greeted by a Dakota Digital instrument cluster featuring a 160-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and digital readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, water temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer currently displays approximately 7,000 miles since completion of the build, reflecting limited use and careful enjoyment over the years.
At the heart of the build is a potent small-block Chevrolet V8 that was professionally assembled in the early 2010s and bored .040-inch over for increased displacement and performance. Equipped with aluminum Edelbrock cylinder heads, a COMP Cams camshaft, MSD ignition system, and a Holley Street Avenger 670-cfm carburetor, the engine delivers the kind of responsive power and unmistakable small-block soundtrack enthusiasts crave. Cooling is managed by a Be Cool aluminum radiator, ensuring reliable operation even during spirited driving. Dyno testing performed during the build recorded an impressive 454 horsepower, giving this lightweight Nova a remarkable power-to-weight ratio and exhilarating performance potential.
Power is routed through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission, providing smooth operation and overdrive capability for comfortable highway cruising. The drivetrain is completed by a rugged 12-bolt rear axle fitted with Moser Engineering axles, 3.73:1 gearing, and an Eaton Detroit Locker differential, creating a combination engineered to effectively handle the engine’s output while maximizing traction.
This 1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova represents an outstanding blend of classic muscle car styling, proven performance upgrades, and thoughtful engineering. With its powerful 454-horsepower small-block V8, upgraded suspension, modernized drivetrain, and striking dark blue finish, it offers the kind of driving experience that continues to make first-generation Novas highly desirable among collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Whether displayed at local cruise nights, enjoyed on weekend drives, or added to a serious muscle car collection, this Nova delivers the perfect combination of performance, craftsmanship, and timeless American hot rod appeal.
